Spring Musical
OUR Third MAINSTAGE SHOW OF THE SEASON IS OUR Spring Musical:
Push yourself to excel in our elite production !
The Spring Musical audition process is intended for serious performers who plan to pursue theatre at a collegiate and/or professional level. Expectations during this rehearsal process are extremely high, providing an excellent opportunity for performers to experience the rigorous yet rewarding demands of an elite production while maintaining the comfort and approachability of a youth theatre company. The Spring Musical audition process is open to performers of all ages, although those who audition are not guaranteed a role.
In the New York City of 1899, a group of young newspaper sellers known as Newsies are exploited by newspaper magnates like Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst. Lead by the charismatic Jack Kelly, the Newsies organize a strike to protest a cut to their already-slim earnings. What begins as a small rebellion quickly grows into a citywide movement, capturing the attention of young reporter Katherine Plumber, who quickly becomes the gang’s only ally in the publishing world. As tensions rise and opposition mounts, the Newsies rely on unity, courage, and loyalty, discovering their greatest strength lies in each other. Based on true events, NEWSIES tells the inspiring story of young people who refuse to be silenced, and who dare to fight for a better future.
